Can We Pick Pumpkins yet?

August 28, 2020

The Team at Nickajack is patiently waiting for September. Our farmers walk all 50 acres of pumpkins almost daily waiting for the day to start picking. Our Pumpkins are just starting to turn orange, and that is perfect timing for our opening day on September 12th. Like all crops in farming, Mother Nature put our plants to the test by withholding the rain for a few weeks! Pumpkin plants are pretty particular and needy when it comes to water, so when the rain disappeared the Nickajack team was nervous. We continue to walk the fields and find some awesome pumpkins, the average weight is around 20 pounds for a Jackolatern!

We grow more than just pumpkins for our fall season! Another crop Nickajack grows year after year is Indian Corn. Each year our corn has a variety of colors, but this year the burgundy color has the majority of the cob. This corn will look perfect in a bundle accompanied by a fall bow! Also, our fall sunflower crop is growing right now. We expect all 3 acres of these flowers to bloom mid to late September!

Bring your family to ours from September 12th through October 31st and get pumpkins, apple cider, and have fall fun!
