How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Venue: 10 Questions to Ask

So, you find yourself in need of a wedding venue… but how do you know which one is the best fit for your big day? With so many options out there, it can be overwhelming to know what to look for. Here are 10 important questions to ask before booking to help make sure you find the perfect space for your wedding!

1. What is the cost?
   Obviously, the venue needs to fit within your budget. Start by searching for venues that fall within your price range, then narrow down your options from there. 
2. Is your preferred wedding date available?
   Before you spend time touring a venue, make sure they have your preferred date—or at least a date within your ideal range—available. There’s no point falling in love with a venue if they can’t accommodate your timeline!
3. What packages do they offer?
   Ask about the different wedding packages available and what each one includes. Can the package be customized to fit your needs? Is there an all-inclusive option? Understanding your choices can make a big difference when comparing venues.
4. What is the venue’s capacity?
   How many guests are you expecting? The venue should be able to comfortably accommodate your guest list, along with your vendors, tables, dancing space, and everything else you’ll need for the day. Bigger isn’t always better if the space doesn’t feel right for your group!
5. What is included with the rental?
   If you’re simply renting the space and have to provide everything else, that can add up quickly. Ask what is included with your rental. Tables and chairs are a great start, but does the venue also offer things like a bar setup, catering options, décor, or other amenities? These extras can really make one venue stand out from another.
6. What different spaces does the venue offer?
   Take a look at all the spaces available to you. Are there indoor and outdoor options for your ceremony? Is there a bridal suite or groom’s suite? What about a patio, outdoor area, or great spots for wedding photos? Think about how you want your day to flow and whether the venue has everything you envision.
7. Can you bring your own décor?
   If you have a specific style or vision for your wedding, find out how much you can customize the space. Are you allowed to bring your own decorations? Does the venue offer décor as part of a package? Also, ask who is responsible for setup and cleanup. 
8. How much time do you get with the venue?
   The amount of rental time can have a big impact on your wedding-day timeline. Find out when you can arrive to start getting ready, when vendors can begin setting up, and when guests need to leave. You’ll also want to know when dancing and music need to end. 
9. Do you have to use preferred vendors?
   Some venues require you to use their preferred vendors, while others allow you to choose your own. Be sure to ask about this policy before booking. If you already have a specific caterer, photographer, DJ, or other vendor in mind, you’ll want to make sure they’re allowed at the venue.
10. Can you bring in food trucks or other fun extras?
    Think beyond the basics! If you’re interested in having a food truck, photo booth, mobile bar, ice cream truck, or another fun vendor at your wedding, ask if the venue allows them. Find out where they can set up and whether there is enough outdoor or indoor space for them to fit comfortably.
